Hibiscus is great for large pots - especially when softened by something like Asparagus Fern. It does well as a bedding plant too. Hibiscus love full sun and need a water-soluble, high nitrogen fertilizer each time its watered.

Landscape color that is Texas tough!
Last night a friend was complaining that her garden lacked "pizzaz" and was already fading under the Texas heat - and it's only mid-June! We're already hovering around the 100 degree mark and the challenge for any gardener, and especially those in Texas, is finding plants that can stand up to their area weather conditions. Texas gardeners have a number of good options. My favorites combine great color and great foliage and Tropical Hibiscus is at the top of the list.Hibiscus comes in a wide variety of colors - pink, red, yellow, and white - and have deep green foliage. My favorites are the pink varieties - all growing in full sun on my east facing flagstone patio.

You don't have to let the heat wilt your energy or your landscape - try a Hibiscus for a great pop of summer color.
